It is ironic how many people cling to a religion, but don't practice its ways or learn to live their lives the way they know that they should. After all, most church ministers try to teach their own flocks practical day-to-day ways of living the right way and mostly about how we should treat each other. The sad truth is that many who go to church every Sunday don't even try to live that way and the only time they even think about that is while they are sitting in the pew and the minister is reminding them through stories and Bible verses.
Praise and worship are key elements of religion, even though many of us know that we have great individual power and that religion has nothing to do with that. In fact, religion attempts to strip away our power and it even tells us that we have no power without a supreme being, such as the one who created us. Well that's pretty obvious if you really sit down and think about it. Compare that to building a car which has an engine in it and say that without us, its creator, it has no power to go anywhere or do anything. We created the car with a means to produce power when we feed it fuel so that we may get to where we're going. Its power is a built-in deliberate function of its design, for without it, we would still be sitting in the driveway.
The very same thing is true of each of us. We were designed and created to have the means and the power to create what we need and want in our lives. God didn't give us food and clothing, but instead he gave us the resources to produce them. He gave us materials from which to build houses and businesses. He didn't just give us houses and buildings.
We weren't created to follow any specific religion, especially one which lays out very exact principles and rules that we are supposed to live by. That's why we were created with a brain and reasoning functions. While it was true in the early days before the birth of Christ that many people were like animals, living solely on instinct, taking that which they needed from others who were weaker and couldn't defend themselves, but we have evolved naturally to the point that, even if there were no police to enforce laws, if we keep taking from each other, soon there would be nothing but chaos, no love, no harmony and no peace at all.
And also God certainly did not create governments to tell us what to do or to make laws to keep us from hurting each other. I think that most of us realize that God created us to have free will and freedom of choice, but those are things that government and even religions try to take away from us, especially when those of financial influence want something changed. Our laws are no longer being made by the people, for the people, like our constitution was written to guarantee. Because gradually, over time, government has managed to write new laws which have led itself out onto a new path, one which allows them to do away with laws that do not serve government, when it's supposed to be the other way around. Governments have become the reason for people to live instead of people being the reason for governments to exist at all.
Even though we have evolved enough to understand that working with each other and for each other is much more beneficial than competing with and taking from each other, it hasn't really transported us in the right direction spiritually. We don't seem to be trying to move beyond religion to higher spiritual ground. Instead, those who reject religion just side-step the whole process altogether and deny that God even exists. Is this what religion has done to us? I think it's fair to say that it has. Religion has managed to convince everyone that it is the only path to God and to Heaven, so if you don't follow their teachings, the only alternative that remains is something in the complete opposite direction, such as believing that there really is no God at all.
This is a perfect example of how religion and government have taken away our freedom of choice and have also tried to remove our free will, both of which are gifts from our Creator. Everything and every aspect of us are those same gifts and they can't be taken away from us, no matter how hard someone else tries to do so.
It just seems obvious to me that, by now, most of us would have found a spiritual master to take us to higher levels of spirituality and that this would be important to everyone, but what is the reason that this hasn't happened? In this author's opinion, it is because of the very same factors that have attempted to remove our free will and freedom of choice. Both religion and government have made our lives so complicated and difficult that we have become completely distracted from the truth and from our reasons to seek out something better.
There have been numerous spiritual masters throughout time and the majority of them are no longer living on this earth plane. They have passed on and are available only through non-physical means. If we weren't so distracted by and caught up in our physical lives, our dreams might start to provide us with some of the answers that we need and want, instead of being replays of our soap opera lives here on earth.
Many hold the belief that the life we are living now is all there is and that when we die, we will either go to Heaven or instead of death, we will witness a personal transformation of some kind. And while all of this may indeed be true, I have come to realize that this life is just the first step in a plan for us to evolve to the very highest level. And with a spiritual awakening movement taking place now and which seems to be the newest buzz as 2012 approaches, it is probably just a wake up call to those of us who are ready to take the next step and continue our journey.
In order to do that, we must have a teacher to show us the way. We are spiritual beings having a physical experience in a place called Earth. The physical universe is like a sandbox, a place for us to discover who we really are as we are only just in our infancy. Positive Awareness is a wonderful tool to learn while we are here, but it still isn't anything more than something to distract us from our true destiny. And even though my goal and purpose has been to teach it to others in an attempt to help make this life here more enjoyable and rewarding, not many have even given it much attention. It could be that there are certain limits put in place here that prevent us from taking this reality too far or to keep us from creating the Heaven on Earth that many would give almost anything to have, simply so that we will eventually want to leave this place and move on to something different and better, to the next level of our incredible journey, and to eventually and ultimately become ONE with our creator.
